The combined action of compounds in Cascara Complex is a gentle laxative effect with reduced tendency to griping or colic.

Its action as a laxative assists in the relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to constipation. It is also a liver tonic, aiding digestion and healthy digestive function.

Recommended Dose

  • Adults: 1 tablet 3-4 times daily.
  • Children 6-12 years: 1 tablet 1-2 times daily.

Ingredients

Each Tablet Contains: - Frangula purshiana (Rhamnus purshianus) (Cascara) extract equivalent to dry stem bark - 560 mg - Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion) extract equivalent to dry root - 375 mg - Rumex crispus (Yellow Dock) extract equivalent to dry root - 375 mg - Anethum graveolens (Dill) seed essential oil - 15 mg - Matricaria chamomilla (Matricaria recutita) (Chamomile) flower essential oil - 2 mg

Cautions

Do not use when abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting are present, or if diarrhoea develops. Contraindicated in cases of known allergy to Chamomile. Use with caution during pregnancy, lactation and in cases of known sensitivity to plants of the Compositae family. Not for prolonged use or in excessive dosage. Avoid excessive doses in patients taking antiarrhythimic drugs and potassium depleting medications. Maintain patients on a high potassium diet. Use in children under 12 years is not recommended. Drink plenty of water. Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia.


Précautions

Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen and prior to use if you are taking other medications or health products which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance or if you have a kidney disorder or are taking cardiac medications. Reduce dose or discontinue use if you experience abdominal pain, cramps, spasms and/or diarrhoea and consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have faecal impaction or symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever. Do not use if you have liver or gall bladder disorders. Discontinue use if you develop symptoms of liver trouble. Dandelion has a diuretic effect. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, licorice root or other medications or health products which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance, or if you have high blood pressure, hypokalemia, or a kidney or cardiovascular disorder. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking any diuretics or anti-coagulants or if you have a history of kidney disease or kidney stones or are taking cardiac medications such as cardiac glycosides or antiarrhythmic medications. Excessive use may add to the potassium depletion caused by agents such as thiazide diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, licorice, laxatives or other medications which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance. Do not use if you have undiagnosed rectal bleeding, severe dehydration with depleted water or electrolytes or diarrhoea or if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae /Compositae/Daisy family. Store below 30 degrees Celsius. Avoid direct heat and sunlight. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use if you have abnormal constrictions of the gastrointestinal tract, potential or exisiting intestinal blockage, atonic bowel appendicitis, or inflammatory colon disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, abdominal pain. Hypersensitivity is known to occur, in which case, discontinue use.
